What is The Saturday Club for Deaf Children?………………………..
The club was started in 1976 to provide a social club for deaf children living on the Isle of Wight.
We have approximately 36 members with ages ranging from pre-school through to 18. The club provides activities, trips, experiences and outings that are focused on developing good social skills, improving communication abilities and increasing self confidence and esteem. Please take a look at our calendar and trips pages; they will give you an idea of the things we can get up to.
Where does the money come from?
The club officers, members and their families work hard to generate funds for the club. Although we regularly organise fund raising events, The Saturday Club however, depends on donations received from individuals, companies and firms, and grant making trusts. No income is received from central or local government.
Administration costs are kept to a minimum and those closely involved in the detailed work of the club give support on a voluntary basis. This enables us to channel all our resources into providing language rich outings, activities and social events for our members.
In 2010 The Saturday Club became a Registered Charity.
